‘Brave’ Machine Gun Kelly Movie Set to Leave Disney+

LOS ANGELES — Disney+ subscribers have been given a deadline to watch the movie Taurus, starring Machine Gun Kelly, as the streaming service is set to remove the film from its library on September 2. The decision is likely due to an expiring licensing agreement, leaving fans with just days to re-watch the movie that has earned praise for its “raw and authentic” portrayal of a self-destructive artist.

The film, directed by Tim Sutton, follows MGK as a fictional self-destructive rapper named Cole. It explores themes of addiction, fame, and mental health, with Megan Fox starring as his character’s estranged ex-wife. The movie’s plot ironically mirrored the on-again, off-again relationship between the real-life former couple, who share a daughter, before their romantic connection ended for good in March.

While critics gave the film a mixed 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with some noting its failure to “delve deeply into the creative process,” fans were much more receptive. The audience score stands at a respectable 88% across more than 100 reviews. Viewers have described the film as a “brave” and “emotional ride” that offers an “engaging insight into the double-edged nature of celebrity.”

MGK, whose legal name is Colson Baker, has stated that Taurus was a rare project that he was able to watch without “cringing at my own image.” Despite some fan criticisms about a “less fleshed out” script, the movie is widely considered a powerful vehicle for the artist’s performance.
