Chris Eubank Jnr was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control on Tuesday for striking Conor Benn in the head with an egg at their February 27 press conference in Manchester, U.K.
The media event, intended to promote the April 26 fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, devolved into silliness and chaos when Eubank egged Benn at the traditional press conference face-off.
“Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jnr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025,” wrote the BBBoC in a statement.
In a continuation of the feud between U.K. boxing royalty Chris Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn, tensions between the fighters’ sons have been tightening since their initially scheduled bout in 2022 was scuttled when Benn tested positive for PEDs.
Since then, back-and-forth sniping over social media and through traditional media – from both generations of Benns and Eubanks – included a social media comment from Eubank regarding a WBC claim that Benn’s positive PED test may have been the result of high egg consumption. “Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests,” Benn posted after the presser. “So I contaminated him with an egg.”
