Taylor Swift just shared the adorable story of how Travis Kelce’s so-called “man tantrum” led to their whirlwind romance—and it’s straight out of a rom-com!
Making her debut appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Wednesday, Aug. 13, the 14-time Grammy winner, 35, spilled the details on how the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, also 35, tried—and failed—to meet her during her Eras Tour stop in July 2023.
The “Man Tantrum” That Started It All

Travis had big plans to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium. But when he couldn’t get backstage, he was “butt hurt”—and Swift found the whole thing hilarious.
“This dude didn’t get a meet and greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem,” she joked. “That’s what I thought at first.”
Instead of giving up, Travis declared his crush on his podcast—something Swift called a “wild, romantic gesture.”
“It was such a wild, romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I wanna date you,’” she gushed.
The Failed Backstage Mission

Turns out, Travis didn’t even ask her team—he just showed up with Patrick Mahomes and assumed he could charm his way in!
“He came with Pat, and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room,” Swift revealed.
“Yeah… And I got denied,” Travis admitted. “The elevator was suspended.”
“That’s how it works in 1973,” Swift quipped.
Straight Out of a Movie
For Swift, the whole thing felt like something from an ’80s teen flick—complete with a boombox moment!
“It felt more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet!'” she said, referencing Say Anything.
Travis, meanwhile, just wanted one chance: “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”

At the start of the episode, Jason Kelce, 37, asked why Swift chose New Heights to announce her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Her answer? “It’s done a lot for me!”
“I owe a lot to this podcast,” she laughed. “This podcast got me a boyfriend, ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago.”
“Worked pretty good,” Jason replied.
And clearly, it did—because now, their love story is every Swiftie’s dream come true!
