Michelle Yeoh is opening up about the secret behind her lasting relationship with Jean Todt, two years into their marriage and nearly two decades after their famously long engagement.
The Oscar-winning actress and the former Ferrari Formula 1 boss tied the knot in July 2022 after an extraordinary 6,992-day engagement. Yeoh recently revealed that the key to their success has been patience, mutual respect, and never losing their sense of humor.
Speaking in a candid interview, Yeoh explained: “It’s about always supporting each other while also giving space. Jean and I balance each other out — that’s why we work.”
She noted that despite their busy careers, they make time for the simple things, from sharing meals together to traveling whenever possible. Yeoh emphasized that the marriage is built on friendship first, saying that their bond grew stronger during the long years before they officially wed.
Their romance began in 2004, when the two met in Shanghai. Just weeks later, Todt proposed, beginning what would become one of the longest engagements in celebrity history. Yeoh has often joked about the wait, but says the timeline only made their love stronger.
Now, celebrating two years as husband and wife, Yeoh says she feels grateful every day: “We may have waited a long time, but I wouldn’t change a thing. What matters is we got here — together.”
The couple continues to appear inseparable at public events, with fans admiring their enduring partnership and Yeoh’s heartfelt reflections on what it means to truly commit.
