Taylor Swift has once again set the internet on fire, and this time, the buzz is all about her new album, The Life of A Showgirl, and what fans are convinced is a clever, two-decade-long jab at Kanye West.
The pop superstar’s announcement came during her first-ever appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce. While unveiling a copy of her 12th studio album, Swift noted it was “a lot more upbeat” than her 2024 record, The Tortured Poets Department. The album’s artwork shows her in a sparkly, showgirl-like bodice, partially submerged in water, with the title in an orange, glittery font.
It’s these specific visual and verbal details that have Swifties playing Sherlock Holmes, connecting the album to West. The long-standing feud between the two artists dates back to 2009, when West famously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. The tension reignited in 2016 when West released his album, The Life of Pablo, which featured his controversial song “Famous.” In the track, West rapped, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? Because I made that b*tch famous.”
West claimed Swift approved of the lyrics, but she has always denied this. Now, fans are arguing that Swift’s new album title, The Life of A Showgirl, is a direct parallel to The Life of Pablo, strategically designed to appear before West’s record in search results.

Beyond the title, fans have also pointed to the album’s orange typography as a deliberate swipe. The cover of West’s 2016 album featured a stark, bright orange background. Social media has exploded with these theories.

As one fan penned on Twitter, “Taylor naming her album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ to show up before Kanye’s ‘The Life Of Pablo’ in search results… her mind.” Another echoed the sentiment, stating, “Taylor Swift doesn’t do anything by accident. It’s probably not a coincidence her album shows up in searches before Kanye’s Life of Pablo.“
A different fan argued the similarities were too obvious to ignore, adding, “You cant tell me that Taylor Swift’s new album is not inspired by Ye. Same colour scheme and same name format of The Life of Pablo.“
While Swift has not commented on the fan theories, the conversation has once again highlighted the ongoing saga between the two music icons and has given her fans plenty to analyze ahead of the album’s release.
