Poll Reveals Predicted Outcome of Hypothetical 2028 Election Between Trump and Barack Obama

A recent poll of registered American voters reveals the hypothetical outcome of a head-to-head race between Donald Trump and Barack Obama for the 2028 presidential election. While both men have served two terms and are barred from running again by the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the poll explores a scenario where they are both eligible.

The survey, conducted by Daily Mail/J.L. Partners with 1,013 registered voters, shows that Obama would win with 52% of the vote compared to Trump’s 41%. Seven percent of respondents were either “unsure” or would vote for “other.” This 11-point lead for Obama is outside the poll’s 3.1 percentage point margin of error.

The poll’s breakdown by demographic groups shows strong support for Obama from specific communities:

  • 73% of Hispanic voters chose Obama.
  • 68% of Black voters chose Obama.
  • 50% of independent voters favored Obama, compared to 39% for Trump.

In addition to the head-to-head matchup, the poll also offered insight into approval ratings for the current president, Donald Trump, with 49% of voters overall saying they approved of his job performance, while 51% had an unfavorable view.

The poll also considered a hypothetical race between Trump and Hillary Clinton, in which Trump would narrowly win with 44% of the vote to Clinton’s 43%.

While a constitutional amendment would be required for such a race to become a reality, Trump has previously said that a matchup against Obama would be a “good one.”
