Justin Bieber is reducing his circle of friends.
On Sunday, June 15, the “Baby” singer, 31, shared a series of screengrabs on his Instagram, showing text messages he exchanged with a friend before deciding to cut them off for good.
He appeared to accuse the friend of critiquing his behavior amid a struggle with unspecified trauma.
“I would never suppress my emotions for someone. Conflict is a part of relationship. If you don’t like my anger, you don’t like me,” Bieber wrote.
“My anger is a response to pain I have been thru.”
“Asking a traumatized person not to be traumatized is simply mean,” he added.
The friend replied by trying to explain themselves to the “Sorry” singer.
“I’m not used to someone lashing out at me,” the friend wrote. “It’s not that I don’t see and feel your anger.”
Without revealing the name of the friend or the events that led to the tense exchange, the singer shared a follow-up message cutting ties.
“Ouch. This friendship is officially over,” he wrote.
“I will never accept a man calling my anger lashing out. I enjoyed our short-lived relationship.”
“I wasn’t kidding when I told u I didn’t need u as a friend. I have good friends who respect my boundaries.”
“I thought u were a p—- which is why I always kept my distance. But this confirms u were the p—- I always thought u were.”
He sent a middle finger emoji and told the friend to leave him alone.
“I’m a p—-?,” the friend wrote.
Bieber replied, “Blocking u now.”
The “Love Me” singer later shared a video on his Instagram Stories, shaking his head with the caption “How I feel about u.”
He also posted the text exchange with a message seemingly addressed to his followers:
“Quit asking me if I’m okay. Quit asking me how I’m doing. I don’t do that to you because I know how life is for all of us.
It’s hard. Let’s encourage, not project insecurities.
Your concern doesn’t come off as care. It’s just oppressive weirdo.”
Bieber continued sharing emotional content:
-
A photo of himself smiling with a middle finger emoji
-
A post showing him smoking
The next day, Bieber returned to Instagram and shared thoughts on unsolicited advice:
“People keep telling me to heal,” he wrote.
“Don’t you think if I could have fixed myself, I would have already?
I know I’m broken. I know I have anger issues.I tried my whole life to be like the people who said I needed fixing.
It just made me more tired and more angry.”“The harder I try to grow, the more focused on myself I am.
Jesus is the only person who keeps me wanting to make my life about others, because honestly, I’m exhausted thinking about myself lately.”
These raw and candid posts came during Father’s Day weekend. Justin and wife Hailey Bieber welcomed their first son, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.
While Hailey didn’t share a public tribute, Justin received:
-
An Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch
-
Two Prada backpacks
-
An Apple laptop
The couple returned home on June 15 after a date night. Bieber’s Father’s Day selfie was captioned:
“I’m a dad that’s not to be f—– with.”
