BU Soccer Alumni Respond to Alex Cooper’s Harassment Claims Against Former Coach

A group of 99 former athletes from the Boston University Women’s Soccer program have come forward to show their support for longtime coach Nancy Feldman following recent accusations of sexual misconduct made by Alex Cooper in her Hulu series Call Her Alex.

TMZ Sports reported that the letter, which was signed by nearly a hundred former team members, was provided by a BU soccer alumni representative. It emphasizes the group’s collective experience under Feldman’s leadership, describing it as safe, respectful, and supportive.

The athletes stated that while they did not intend to undermine anyone’s personal account, they felt compelled to express their own experiences as a united voice. “At no point did we feel unsafe,” the letter reportedly reads. “Coach Feldman always led with professionalism and made every decision with the team’s best interest in mind.”

In a show of long-term respect, the alumni added that Feldman’s influence continued beyond their collegiate years, saying she “remains an integral part of our lives” and they “stand by her.”

Following the release of Cooper’s docuseries, Boston University issued a statement to PEOPLE reaffirming their policies. “Boston University maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment,” the statement read. “We have a comprehensive system in place to support students, along with a dedicated reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office.”

The university added that it encourages all members of the campus community to report any concerns and that it remains committed to a secure and inclusive environment.

In addition to the docuseries, Cooper elaborated on her claims in a powerful Instagram post on June 12. She expressed that Feldman, once a trusted mentor, instead “abused her power,” creating what she called a “living hell.” Cooper alleged that she reported the incidents to Athletic Director Drew Marrochello but received no action.

“She destroyed my identity and derailed everything I had worked for,” Cooper wrote. “And while it defined my life for a decade, it meant nothing to hers.”

Cooper’s documentary Call Her Alex premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 8, where she further discussed the allegations during a post-screening Q&A.

PEOPLE has reached out to Boston University for comment on the alumni’s open letter but has not yet received a response.
