Fabio Wardley rejected the chance to sit face-to-face with Jarrell Miller in a ‘The Gloves are Off’ style interview after the pair clashed at today’s press conference at Portman Road, Ipswich.
Wardley and Miller met today at the home of Ipswich Town Football Club to promote their upcoming fight on June 7 at that very stadium.
Wardley, 18-0-1 (17 KOs), will fight in his hometown soccer team’s arena against the bullish Miller, 26-1-2 (22 KOs).
In typical Miller fashion, things began to get heated as the pair sat just meters away from each other on the top table pitchside at Portman Road.
Miller, or ‘Big Baby’ as he is known, began to get increasingly aggravated about a rap song that named him ‘Big Baby Killer’, and accused Wardley of being behind the track.
Wardley seemingly had no clue what Miller was talking about and, as the Englishman denied the allegation, Miller lost his temper.
He quickly erupted from his chair and made a move for the heavyweight sat just across from him. Security were on hand to keep the brash American at bay – although he was able to slap the head of Wardley as the pair came together,
Wardley was not amused with his heavyweight counterpart and made a dart for him in a hope of returning the favour.
Things eventually cooled down and the pair went ahead with the customary head-to-head in the center circle of the pitch.
Both men were due to join DAZN broadcaster Ade Oladipo for a face-to-face interview that has so often been described as ‘The Gloves are Off’.
Miller awaited his opponent in the hot seat as Wardley continued to do pitchside interviews with the media.
As Miller left the room to use the men’s room, news filtered into the room that Wardley, on advice from his team, would not be joining them for the interview.
“They punked out, I heard,” said Miller as he returned to the room. “Let’s go.”
